Aug. 20th, 2008 @ 05:47 pm Fellow Nebraskans! (and I spose all you other people, too ;P)
Current Mood: hopefulhopeful
You ever read a really good book as a child? A book that helped put you on the path to becoming an avid reader or maybe just shaped the way you looked at books from then on? Or maybe you had a favorite book that you read a bazillion times.

Well, here's your chance to give that opportunity to other kids who might not otherwise get it. First Book is holding a contest, and the state with the most votes on September 15th will receive 50,000 books which will go to children in need. You can vote once every 24 hours. And it only takes a few seconds of your time. Aren't 50,000 books worth that?

Nebraska is currently in second place (WHOO!) but I'm hoping those Nebraskans on my flist can vote and help me spread the word for others to vote, too.

Not in Nebraska, but that's such a cool concept! Book drives are awesome and I'm sad I don't see them as much as I did as a kid.

*voted for you guys* Go Nebraska! Beat West Virginia! >O
